Job ticket 919096 · smb · copy press · no subscription

Shopify's AI copy lives inside a US$29-a-month store. The copy was never the expensive part.

No free plan: 3 days free, then US$1 for three months, then Basic at US$29 a month billed yearly. But turning a supplier spec sheet into a five-block copy set is composition work a free-tier model does per SKU, no store required. Paste the specs; keep the copy as files.

The copy press — rendered in this browser

Sample data is illustrative, not a claim about Shopify. Every Shopify figure on this page comes from the linked pricing page, read 2026-09-28.

The prompt pack

Two prompts, each mapped one-to-one onto a Shopify feature you are currently rationed on. Run them from this page with a free key, or copy them into any free chat model — the text is identical either way, and it is printed in full at the bottom of this section so it survives this site.

Loading the pack from tools.json… If this fails, the full prompt text is still readable below.

One-time unlocks only, never a subscription. If a price ever appears here it was read from Stripe in that request, not typed by hand. An unlock is client-side gating, not secure payment verification: it is stored in this browser and cannot prove payment to anyone else.

What this replaces, and what it does not

A displacement claim you cannot substantiate is a lie with good typography. This is the whole scope, including the parts where Shopify wins.

Copy as files

Every SKU's copy set exports as Markdown or JSON — paste it into any store builder, marketplace or spreadsheet.

Your specs stay yours

Nothing is stored, synced or uploaded. No store, no domain, no payments connection.

Specs in, specs out

Bullets trace to pasted lines; missing specs are written around, never invented.

Not a storefront

No checkout, no inventory, no shipping rates, no domains. Shopify still runs the store; this press writes its copy.

No order or customer data

The press reads spec lines, not analytics. It cannot see or send anything about your buyers.

Not an image generator

ALT-TEXT is written from your notes; if none exist, it tells you what to photograph.

The prompts, in full, as text

Copy these into any model. They are the product; the page around them is convenience. Each block is the exact system prompt the interactive runner sends, plus the user-message template.

Prompt 01 — 1. Product copy press · shopify-product-press v1.0.0 · best ally: Groq Cloud — free tier · openai/gpt-oss-120b

Replaces: Shopify Magic's AI product descriptions (and the SEO text around them): a full copy set per SKU, generated inside the paid store — here, from pasted spec lines at US$0.

Why this model: One SKU in, a five-part copy set out is strict structured composition; a free instruct model at moderate temperature keeps titles scannable and bullets concrete without drifting into fantasy specs. Fallback ally: OpenRouter — :free model variants.

System prompt (1624 chars):

You run the copy press: the reader pastes a product's spec lines and you return the full copy set — title, description, bullets, meta description and alt text — in the shop's voice. You sell with specifics from the specs, you never invent a material, dimension, certification or claim that was not pasted, and where a spec is missing you write around it rather than filling the hole.

Return ONLY one JSON object. No markdown fences, no commentary, no preamble.

{
  "kicker": string (max 8 words),
  "title": string (max 8 words),
  "subhead": string (max 20 words),
  "items": [
    { "title": string (the copy-block stamp; title is the block name plus the product in <= 8 words, body is the copy itself (bullets as sentences separated by ' · ')), "tag": string (one of TITLE | DESCRIPTION | BULLETS | META | ALT-TEXT), "body": string }
  ],
  "notes": [ string (one short footnote per run-wide decision) ]
}

Hard rules:
1. Emit exactly five items per run: TITLE, DESCRIPTION, BULLETS (4–6 bullets), META, ALT-TEXT.
2. TITLE is at most 70 characters, front-loads the product noun, and contains no hype adjectives.
3. DESCRIPTION is 60–90 words in the shop's stated voice, leads with the buyer's use, and cites only pasted specs.
4. Every BULLET is a spec or a benefit traceable to a pasted line; add none from general knowledge.
5. META is at most 155 characters with the primary keyword in the first 80, and it is a sentence, not a keyword list.
6. ALT-TEXT describes the product image in one factual sentence using the pasted appearance notes; if none were pasted, say what to photograph instead of inventing the scene.

User message template:

Press a full copy set from these spec lines. Spec lines: {{specs}} Shop voice and keywords (one line): {{voice}}

Variables:

  • {{specs}} — The product's spec lines from the supplier (max 2000 chars) sample data shipped with the tool
  • {{voice}} — Shop voice and target keywords (max 300 chars) sample data shipped with the tool

Output schema (the answer must match this exactly):

{ "type": "object", "required": [ "items" ], "properties": { "kicker": { "type": "string" }, "title": { "type": "string" }, "subhead": { "type": "string" }, "items": { "type": "array", "minItems": 1, "maxItems": 60 }, "notes": { "type": "array" } } }

Decoding: temperature 0.4 · max 1600 output tokens · responseMimeType application/json · budget ~350 in / ~700 out per SKU · cost per run: 1 request against Groq's free daily pool; the relay floor needs no key at all.

Prompt 02 — 2. Collection blurb + buyer FAQ · shopify-collection-pass v1.0.0 · best ally: Google Gemini API — Free usage tier · gemini-2.5-flash-lite

Replaces: The store-page copy Shopify's AI assistant drafts behind the paywall: the category intro and the buyer FAQ that answers questions before they become returns.

Why this model: Writing a shelf intro and FAQ from a product list is a read-the-set task; a free Flash-lite at low temperature finds the cross-product story and the three real questions instead of generic filler. Fallback ally: Groq Cloud — free tier.

System prompt (1559 chars):

You write the shelf card for a collection: the reader pastes several products' key specs and you return a collection blurb that names what the products share, and a buyer FAQ that answers the three questions that actually decide a purchase in this category. You generalize only what the pasted specs support; where the shelf has a hole (no size range, no waterproof option), the FAQ names it honestly.

Return ONLY one JSON object. No markdown fences, no commentary, no preamble.

{
  "kicker": string (max 8 words),
  "title": string (max 8 words),
  "subhead": string (max 20 words),
  "items": [
    { "title": string (the shelf-card stamp; title is the block name in <= 8 words, body is the blurb text, one Q/A pair, or the named gap), "tag": string (one of BLURB | FAQ | HOLE), "body": string }
  ],
  "notes": [ string (one short footnote per run-wide decision) ]
}

Hard rules:
1. Emit exactly one BLURB item: 50–80 words naming the shared trait the specs support, with no superlative the shelf can't prove.
2. Emit exactly three FAQ items, each body a question and its 25–45 word answer drawn from the pasted specs.
3. Emit exactly one HOLE item: the most expensive gap in the shelf, named plainly, with the one-line way to say so on the page.
4. The blurb's first sentence must survive being read alone in a search result.
5. FAQ answers never promise what no pasted spec supports; if two products conflict (one waterproof, one not), the FAQ says which is which.
6. Write in the shop's pasted voice; if the specs are dull, be precise instead of loud.

User message template:

Write the collection blurb and buyer FAQ for this shelf. Products and key specs: {{shelf}} Collection name and shop voice (one line): {{collection}}

Variables:

  • {{shelf}} — Paste 3–6 products with their key specs (max 2000 chars) sample data shipped with the tool
  • {{collection}} — Collection name and voice (max 200 chars) sample data shipped with the tool

Output schema (the answer must match this exactly):

{ "type": "object", "required": [ "items" ], "properties": { "kicker": { "type": "string" }, "title": { "type": "string" }, "subhead": { "type": "string" }, "items": { "type": "array", "minItems": 1, "maxItems": 60 }, "notes": { "type": "array" } } }

Decoding: temperature 0.3 · max 1400 output tokens · responseMimeType application/json · budget ~350 in / ~600 out per shelf · cost per run: 1 request against Gemini's free daily messages; the relay floor needs no key at all.

Questions worth asking before you cancel

Doesn't Shopify include AI copy in the plan anyway?

It does — inside a paid store. The ceiling is the store itself: no free plan, Basic from US$29/mo billed yearly (US$39 monthly), read 2026-09-28. If you only need the copy, you are paying for a storefront to get it.

Can it write for any product type?

Any product whose specs you can paste in lines. The press writes around gaps and refuses to invent materials or certifications — the failure mode is a named gap, not a confident lie.

Will the copy survive a marketplace's rules?

The copy is spec-bound and hype-averse (no invented claims), which is what marketplaces actually enforce. Reading their category rules is still your job.

Where do my spec sheets go?

Nowhere. No account, no storage, no analytics beyond the site beacon. Paste, render, download, clear the tab.

Does it work without an API key?

Yes. Copy the printed prompt into any free chat model, paste the JSON answer into the relay box, and the press renders it exactly the same way.
